SA Philanthropy Network has become GiveSA, a name that reflects its growing role in inspiring giving and making it more accessible for South Australians.
Founded by Kay Burton in February 2024, SA Philanthropy Network grew from her own experience in philanthropy and a simple belief: it should be easier for people to turn their desire to give into meaningful action.
GiveSA is bringing South Australia’s often understated generosity into the open, connecting people, sparking conversations and helping more South Australians support the causes and communities they care about.
It does this through practical guidance and resources, events and SA Giving Week, as well as the giving platform, which connects funders with local community projects.
The name may be new, but the heart of the organisation remains the same. Kay will continue to lead GiveSA and the community that has grown around it.
For Kay, the move to GiveSA reflects how the organisation has evolved.
“This is a natural next step for our organisation and brings our events, resources and giving platform together under one clear name. Our purpose remains the same: to inspire a culture of generosity across South Australia, bring people together and make it easier for everyone to give and get involved.”
GiveSA’s next chapter will be supported by a refreshed board, bringing together deep experience across philanthropy, business and the South Australian community.
Raymond Spencer AM has been appointed Chair, alongside Julian Burton OAM, Mark Pitcher, Ana Koch and Kate Stock.
“I’m honoured to assume this role and excited to work alongside this group of experienced philanthropists who share our belief in what’s possible when more people are inspired to give,” Raymond said.
That belief extends to what’s possible for South Australia more broadly.
“South Australians have always been generous, often quietly so. This is about giving that generosity a clearer voice and a stronger structure. History doesn’t often hand a state a moment like this, and South Australia has the chance to meet it with generosity.
“The causes and communities that need support are growing, and so is the opportunity for philanthropy to make a lasting difference. GiveSA is here to help more people turn that instinct to give into real, sustained impact.”
The move to GiveSA follows the resounding success of the inaugural SA Giving Week earlier this year, which celebrated generosity in all its forms and sparked conversations about giving across the state. That momentum is growing, with the South Australian Government committing $250,000 over two years, alongside renewed support from founding supporters and new philanthropic funders.
SA Giving Week will return in 2027, encouraging even more South Australians to find their own way to give.
“For one week, people were talking openly about giving across South Australia. If we can keep that conversation going, the ripple effect will extend far beyond the week itself,” Kay said.
At its heart, GiveSA has a simple purpose: to inspire a culture of generosity across South Australia.
Free and open to everyone, GiveSA makes it easier to get involved, whether you’ve been giving for years or are simply wondering where to start. Because everyone has something to give, and every way of giving can make a difference.
